College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences Computer Labs
Location and Hours
The college computer labs are located in rooms 2013 and 2023 of the Agricultural Sciences Building and are normally open from 8:30am until 9:00pm weekdays and from 3:00pm until 9:00pm on weekends. During academic breaks, the labs are open from 8:30am until 4:45pm. The labs are closed during WVU holidays. Lab hours may vary somewhat depending on the availability of personnel to staff the labs.
Use of Computer Labs
The college computer labs are open to all students, faculty and staff of the WVU College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences. These labs are also used as classrooms. Use of the labs during scheduled classes is prohibited. Class schedules for each room will be posted on the door. When the labs are not in use as classrooms, they are available for general use on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to Landscape Architecture and Interior Design students in room 2013. All use of the computers in these labs is subject to the rules, regulations and policies of West Virginia University, and all applicable local, state and federal laws. If you need to reserve the room, please contact Nancy Moody in room 1006. If you need software installed, please contact Ben Groover in room 1009.
Printing
The computers in room 2023 print to the IBM ProPrinters. These printers should be used for draft copies. The computers in room 2013 print to the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4MX/Si. Use of this printer is limited to producing one final copy of your document. Please limit printouts to 10 pages or less. Excessive printing will result in the college being forced to start charging for printing. Plotters are also available, but supplies are not provided.
Saving Files
You are responsible for your own data files. All files should be saved to 3.5 inch diskette. Anything saved to the hard drive of the computers will be deleted without warning.
Installing and Copying Software
To help prevent computer viruses and violations of copyright laws, no software may be installed on the computers in the lab. Copying software from the hard disks of the computers in the lab is a violation of the software copyright, and of state and federal laws.
Objectionable Material
The WVU Policy on Sexual Harassment and federal law prohibit sexual harassment, including inappropriate displays of sexually suggestive objects or pictures, which may include but is not limited to posters, pin-ups, and calendars. We believe that the viewing or printing of sexually explicit materials constitutes a violation of this policy, and therefore anyone doing so will be subject to disciplinary action.
Other Rules
Food and drink are not allowed in the labs. Do not move any equipment or furniture. Keep noise levels to a minimum. When you are finished, please clean up your work area and shut down your computer. Please be sure that all printing is finished before closing time.
