The other half of the profitability puzzle is determining production costs. The first phase of this objective described the size and structure of the aquaculture industry in West Virginia. Enterprise budgets for different levels of trout production have been developed. In the second phase, investigators will engage both processors and producers to develop optimization models. Additional efforts will focus on the economic impact of aquaculture in West Virginia, an economic assessment of waste management options, and an assessment of mine water sources suitable for economic development.
