Marketing

As this project was initiated, marketing was a primary concern. Marketing studies will identify and assess market opportunities for aquaculture products in both recreational and food fish markets. Surveys of the fee-fishing industry in West Virginia will draw from three groups--the general fishing population, people who patronize fee-fishing establishments, and managers of fee-fishing businesses. The second phase of this objective will initiate a market driven network for providing Appalachian aquaculture products to the recreational fee-fishing market. Efforts also will be made to implement a cooperative approach to marketing among small producers and to assess the market potential for recreational fee fishing in streams.
