Graduates with degrees in Human Nutrition and Foods are eligible to apply for a dietetic internship. Following the internship, students may take the examination to become a registered dietician (RD). As dieticians, graduates may find employment in:

In recent years, graduates have found employment in hospitals as clinical dieticians and food service directors, in product development, child nutrition programs, school food service, weight management counseling, nutrition education at the county level, in community dietetics as with the WIC program, and as consultants in extended care facilities and ambulatory care centers.
Graduate School Options
Majors in Human Nutrition and Foods are given a strong foundation for graduate work. Those who major in dietetics may continue their education in nutrition, biochemistry, exercise physiology, pharmacology, public health, or medicine. Students have attended graduate school at institutions such as WVU, Virginia Tech, and University of Pittsburgh.Starting Salaries
Graduates with a B.S. degree usually begin at $30,000 for an entry level position and cap at approximately $47,000. Graduates with a M.S. degree and with less than 5 years experience can expect salaries to begin at $32,000 and cap at approximately $50,000. Those who carry the RD credential can expect to start at $32,000 and cap at approximately $62,000
