I. Introduction: Other diseases caused by
mycoplasma-like organisms include peach yellows (see photo), little peach, and peach
rosette. Leafhopper-transmitted peach yellows tends to be more prominent following a
reduced spray program in a light crop year. Some orchards have had 10 percent of the trees
infected in one year.
II. Symptoms: The above diseases are characterized
by shoot proliferation, greatly reduced growth, and leaf yellowing. Fruit that are
produced tend to be of low quality and lack flavor. Affected trees survive two to three
years.
III. Be aware of the symptoms of these diseases. No
routine monitoring is required.
