Minor in Family and Consumer Science

This minor requires courses in child development and family studies, human nutrition and foods, interior design, and/or textiles, apparel, and merchandising. Total credit hours: 15.

Required courses:

Select a minimum of two of the following courses:

  • CDFS 110: Families Across the Life-Span
  • CDFS 212: Early Childhood Development
  • HN&F 171: Introduction to Human Nutrition
  • HN&F 271: Contemporary Issues in Nutrition
  • ID 110: Introduction to Interior Design
  • TA&M 120: Textile and Apparel Complex
  • TA&M 140: Introductory Textiles

Select a minimum of three of the following courses:

  • F&CS 381: Issues in Consumer Sciences
  • F&CS 460: Communications of Consumer Information
  • CDFS 412: Adolescent Development
  • CDFS 493: Special Topics
  • HN&F 348: Science of Food Preparation
  • F&CS 382: Disabilities and the Family
  • F&CS 385: Disability and Society

A minimum grade of C must be earned in all courses counted toward the minor.
