Basic concepts of genetics that govern heredity, traits of individual organisms, and the structure and function of individual molecules. Approaches and methodologies used in classical genetic work and in modern genetic research. Team taught with Dr. Jed Doelling.
- Plant Pathology 503, Mycology, 4 credit hours
Diversity of organisms in the Kingdom Fungi. Methods for identifying and studying fungi. Current theories on how fungi reproduce, how they differ from each other, and how they impact their environments and ours.
- Plant Pathology 730, Physiology of the Fungi, 4 credit hours
Physiology, biochemistry, and genetics underlying: fungal growth and metabolism; the interactions of fungi with other organisms; and, the success of fungi in different environments.
- Plant Science 796, Seminar in Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology, 1 credit hour
Practical experiencing in researching a pertinent topic, compiling information, and presenting the information in an organized seminar.
