WVU Organic Research Project

Project Update (10/17/01)

Fall Wind-Down

  • The farm is preparing for winter. We are pulling plants, and seeding bare ground with a mixture of rye and vetch to prevent soil erosion and provide green manure in the spring.

Blanket Sales

  • The wool that was shorn in July has returned from the mill in Prince Edward Isle Canada in the form of beautiful blankets. They are natural wool color with stripes. We have about 7 available and the cost is $110. These can be purchased by calling Dr. William Bryan at 293-6023 or Thomas Batchelor at 293-4727.

Apple Sales

  • The much-anticipated apples have arrived from the university farm in the Eastern Panhandle. This is the time to buy apples for the winter.

Buy our produce at the Mountain People's Market, the Saturday Market on High St., select local restaurants, and the Thursday ice cream sales at the back loading dock of the agriculture building.
