WVU Organic Research Project

Mission

Conduct scientifically sound research to provide best-practice recommendations for West Virginia’s organic farmers and home gardeners.

Project niche

Most  organic research compares organic to conventional production. This is useful for those deciding to grow organically.

The WVU organic research project compares different organic production techniques, to serve farmers and gardeners who have already committed to growing organically.

In the words of an organic producer:

"One problem with organic farming is farmers have to do the experiment themselves, because there just isn’t a lot of readily available research."
The WVU organic farm helps address this problem for West Virginia’s organic growers.
